Musicals Week

Hello Dolly fans, this week I have been watching some of my musical selection of DVD's! Let's start with mamma Mia, I love this film, yes even the part when pierce Bronson sings!! It's so cheerful and happy film and has such a great cast, even James enjoys it! I have also got a soft spot for Chicago and I have featured it previously but Burlesque is a film that I could watch every couple of month , with that is Rock of Ages, Tom Cruise is a special person and I LOVE Julianne Hough!!! Also we have watched Jersey boys which is a film about music and a band and not technically a musical, however it is brilliant , Chicago is really good with the jazz hands and Richard Gere! So I think this next week I may watch Richard Gere films and maybe some Julia Roberts so Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Officer and a gentleman and some other ones, if you have any suggestions, just drop me a mail or a message on the blog

Happy New Year

Happy New Year dolly fans

This year will be about the blog and making memories, so with that in mind, I'm starting it with some great films , this week I will be watching some of my Christmas presents and also going to the cinema , yes I go out of the house(sometimes) , I have watched The Great and Powerful Oz, as it is fantasy week, I like James Franco and Mila Kunis, in this , it is bold and colourful and funny , and old school credits and great music by Danny Elfman but somehow lacking in something, it could have been more story or more action, anyway lacking in something,

Next up was The Golden Compass - stay with me as lots of people didn't like this film and It's not as good as the books, my Best Friend introduced me to Philip pullman   books and I have read all 3 , the film is good and takes you on a journey with great characters and some of the casting totally fit with the books like lee Scorsby and Hester the hare, but it was Nicole Kidman for me, I didn't like her Mrs Coulter, nah not right! And it ended when it just seems to get started, maybe I will re-read the books instead.

Also in the new YEar , I have bought one of my favourite films that I saw at the cinema -War Horse , I'm staying myself for a quiet night with no interruptions for this awesome film, and I also bought Les Miserables , love Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, singing no less!!!!!

If you have any sugguestions for films for me to watch , just drop me a comment

Happy 2015 and I will get James to buy me a hoverboard !

Morning Dolly fans

I'm really poorly at present, and have been confided to my sick bed but my lovely Man has bought me a Christmas treat in the form of 2 films to watch over Christmas, aww thanks Babe !!

1st up is Belle, this is based in a true events in the 1760 and 1780's about Dido Belle, whom was a mixed race girl who lived in gentry but was excluded of lots of things, especially the man she wanted to marry , itis beautifully shot and Tom Wilkinson is brilliant as her papa( he was her uncle ) and Tom Felton plays a baddie, and one of my favourite English actors, James Jimmy Norton, he was in Happy Valley and Grandchester, he is going to be a big star!!!! The costumes were really good and all the cast! Belle was brilliant , worth a watch!

And 2nd up is ....The Polar Express, I live this film, I am going to make them watch it on ChristmasDay, it's sweet and funny and sad and happy , and makes me feel better, I don't really but I'm trying! Tom hanks plays about 6 parts and Readers you know how I feel about Sir Tom! ( Cloud Atlas) , Watch it NOW!!

Paul Rudd and Me!!!

Who needs a paddle when you have a rudd..er

Me and Mr James LOVE Paul Rudd , I have been watching old and new Paul Rudd films including Clueless, Funny People and How do you Know with Reece Witherspoon, and Owen Wilson,

of course we couldnt  go on without mentioning  Romeo and Juliet He plays  Paris

I think that Paul Rudd is probably a really nice guy as when he was in the 40 year old virgin, they danced on the hill, he doesnt take himself too seriously and looks up for a laugh!!

another one with Paul Rudd is the Object of my affection with Jennifer Aniston, also love her too.....

on the blog this week James is still promising to do a guardians of the galaxy blog post, I thought the film was really brilliant with a great soundtrack which i may or may not have been singing along to on the way to work......Guardians is the middle of multi film franchise  and as a MASSIVE geek and loves Comic Book Films, especially Star Lord and Groot.

also this week I have been watching some christmas films, I watched Serendipity and The Holiday , both great films with good casts, Serendidity is my favourity seasonal film, with Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack  and set in a great place of New York, I really want to visit, come on James, get it sorted!!!!

Something old and something new

Hello Dolly Fans

This week I have been using the netflix account to see what films I have never seen before, as James is away in the US of A, I thought I would watch something different so I can let him know about it when he returns, first up was LoveLace, I was sceptical about this as I had heard it was violent, but Amanda Seyfrid was ace, and played the porn  star very well, there was such a story and it surprised me that she was a star for such a short time and was abused by his husband and manager, she also wrote a book, plus James Franco plays Hugh Heffner!!

So after that as it was a bit dark , I decided to brighten the mood and watch Down to You, this is Julia Stiles and Freddie Prinze Jr, I love the comedy and romantic and the talking to the camera style, so this cheered me up ! Watch She's all that, and Ten things I hate about You, it's the same style of Film!

Also this weekI bought A new film! Begin Again with Keira Knightly and Mark Ruffalo , I like music as well as films, and this joined the two, James cordon is in it too, plus the guy from Maroon 5!!!! I thought it was a love story but it was more about the music and friendship can save you and let you remember who you are, I enjoyed this film a lot and It made me feel like I should be a better friend to my special Girls, but I should see them all at Christmas! Including Lindsay!

Also this week I went to see some of my crafty friends at The a Bearded Tit market , this is a new market at Crowd of Favours on Harper Street, and I met Sphie from Onetensevenzero, I love her pieces and already own some, but bought a few more, also Bridie from Born to Thread and Gemma from Melodies Jewellery , as I'm a massive Indiegeek I also went to the corn exchange craft fair and Alice Found Treasure and Mad Elizabeth and to see my good mate Bo Carter, what a day !!!!

Leo Time

Hello Dolly fans,

James has deserted the Dolly HQ for almost 3 weeks, so I'm catching up on Leo and Julia time, first up was Notting Hill as I haven't seen it for ages, and I'm trying to get my Julia Roberts collection up to date, but as Netflix is so good it's easy !!!

I have also been watching older films too, And a massive favourite is Romeo and Juliet , love Claire Danes and Leo of course, the soundtrack us really good as well, I have had it on iPod for years, plus such a great ensemble cast , tybalt is the prince of cats and guns referred as swords, plus a rock style soundtrack!!

I was 16 when this came out, almost 20 years ago!! Claire Danes was only 16 when she made it , Leo is so fit in this film, and the story so tragic and poignant , espically when they get married( sob)

When Mercutio dies, oh god, Harold perrinau is so good! Baz Lurmann is a brilliant director , I love all his films, Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge, and the Great Gatesby, some of the ensemble cast, are in more than one film, so really this week is a Baz love in! It's all dramatic and tragic all at the same time!!

Manly ish films

Hello Dolly fans

James and I have been watching more manly films this week, Prisoners is one we watched last week, it is gritty and a tough subject matter as the children get abducted , Hugh Jackman plays the father of one of the girls and Jake Gynahall plays the cop, it was quite violent but very well directed, with twists and turns, it kept us all guessing.

Last night we watched The Lone Ranger, I love Johnny Depp, and it was good to see doing something else beside being a pirate! James said that this film was criticised but I enjoyed it, there is thrills and spills  and action and a tiny big of romance, and a strange Indian with a dead bird on his head and Helena Botham Carter plays a hooker, what's not to love!

I have a week off on holiday from the restaurant, so I have also watched Two Weeks Notice( love Sandra Bullock more than Julia Roberts) and Erin Brockovick ( Jules) and the matrix Trilogy for a change,

Mmm The Matrix , well the first one was wicked, the 2nd one was still good, not sure on the 3rd one, it's good they were all directed by the same people, so they did flow, but they could have just made 2, just my opinion of course!

Not sure what to watch next, might be some slushy stuff or maybe Dracula, as that is ACTUALLY my favourite film of all time, more on that next week...
