Back to the 80's

Hello dolly fans, I have the mick  taken out of me by Dream team 5000 ( Big Nick and Adamski) that the blog is not 80's anymore so I will be going back to my roots, and concentrating on the 80 films that I love!!! This week I'm revisiting all the 80's films and music that is special to me, this includes Top Gun and St Elmo's Fire and new one to me is Say Anything with John Cusack, and FlashDance and Ghostbusters , as they are remaking it as all girl cast #girlpower#fiercebabes, I think this will be worth watching , however the original is the best!! I have also not watched Stand By Me and Dirty Dancing for a long time either and also The Lost Boys, we will also be looking at 80's films that have been remade including rumours of a remake of the flight of the Navigator( Big Nick is not happy) so it seems I have s lot to watch and listen to this week so I'm off now ......

I'm Back !!

Hello Dolly fans and welcome back to the blog , I have had a bit of blog holiday whilst I get on with my work and studying for childcare qualification, it quite full on !  I have still had a bit of time for socialising and making a few new bits for the upcycle  project and some new bracelets with movie quotes and swear words on!!! These are making their way to the Etsy shop today , anyhow! Bit news in the Dolly household , we went to see my favourite band on the 5th July, Fleetwood Mac at the Leeds arena and it was amazing, I haven't seen them for 6 years and they were as good as ever, J was really jealous that he had missed out on a ticket and my mate Sonia was 4 rows from the front , lucky girl!!!

Film news  now

J and I went to see Jurassic World a couple of week ago . Some people will know that we both love Chris Pratt a bit so to have him and dinosaurs together in a film plus some strange creature that might be part T-Rex and part something else , she is massive !!!  I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it, I loved it , even bought a tshirt to wear at nursery!!!

I have been catching up with suits on Netflix ( love Harvey Spector) and a couple of independent films Admission with Paul Rudd( omg love him more) and a special favourite of mine St Elmo's Fire , I like this because of the case plus Breakfast club is all time favourite film!!! Read previous posts about Molly Ringwald crush and Judd Nelson/Andrew McCarthy - think Mannequin/ St Elmo's / breakfast club/ Pretty in Pink etc ......

happy Sunday everyone

Avengers -age of Ultron

On Friday I was treated to the new Avengers film, as you know J and I are big geeks and love Marvel , we watch Guardians on a regular basis , so big screen and VIP Seats to boot! It was awesome, not sure to put spoilers in as people might be annoyed , but just know that the vision was just what I hoped for and Paul Bettany was brilliant !!! James Spader plays Ultron so well, his voice is just creepy and when he is sort of singing , it stays with you, he is a proper good villain , and it sets it up for the next film, so Age Of Ultron 10/10 , thank you Marvel, this will be last blog post for a month as I'm having a little break but will be back in June.

Weekend!!

We have been watching lego Movie this week and some old school movies

First up is The Lego Movie, My Boyfriend bought it the other day and we watched it on Friday night, this film is so funny and silly but there are some adult themes in it, but the soundtrack and the cast are awesome , the songs get stuck in your head, espically everything is awesome ! The cast was brilliant and funny, we could watch this every week!!!

I also found on my netflix account some old school gems, so rewatched pretty in pink and Empire Records, and HeartBreakers, as you know Readers, I am a massive Molly Ringwald fan, so I made J watch this with me last night!! Sorry Babe ;)

Empire Records is quite old school as well , Liv Tyler and Renee Zewelleger as teens, and wicked soundtrack, this film is a bit like Waiting, dogma, that kind of genre, moody teens come good , great ensemble cast too!!!!  And Heartbreakers, well I like the con man/woman films, this is sleek like Mr and Mrs Smith, and Catch me If you can, but with brilliant girls, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sigourney Weaver and Jason Lee. It is a fun and charming film, that doesn't take itself too serious.

Right I'm off to make more sweets for the Easter Fun Day on Sunday

Mother's Day treats

Hello Dolly Fans,

This week, me and Mummy and grandma went to the Vue to see The 2nd Best exotic  marigold Hotel , we loved it! Its  a lovely film all about India and the lives of the elderly guests in the hotel, It follows on well from the first one, I especially love Maggie Smith and her grumpy and sarcastic look on life, plus Bill Nighy is always great to watch plus my special favourite of Richard Gere, His hair is so white!!! This film was great, and really shows India and all the colours and culture, and that older people can have another lease of life in another country , I think this year will be the year of cinema for Me as there are loads of period drama films coming out including Far from the Madding Crowd and Suite Francaise, And A little Chaos with kate Winslet ,all of them look brilliant . We saw a trailer for Alan Bennett True Story called the Lady In the Van, but we have to wait til November.

James will be driving me mad when  Age of Ultron come out but that it not til April! plus later on in the year Magic Mike XXL comes out, that looks right up my street, LOVE Channing Tatum

I will be concentrating on films based on books this week, including The Notebook, The Help and Chocolat, and I will be recommending lesser known films, including Frida and One Day with Anne Hathaway,

Happy Mothers Day to all the mums and Step mums and grandmas!!!!

Ready for romantic films and .....Mr Grey

Special Report

50 shades and .......More

I have been putting it on ice to go see 50 shades of grey, but as its almost my birthday, I asked my boyfriend to put up my film blog and do some research with me, so we went to see it yesterday, and i have read all 3 books, so although the books are not very well written, the inner goddess bits annoyed me, ( they have got rid of this in the film- thank god) it was sleek and well photographed, showing sweeping scenes of Georgia and Seattle, and the chemistry was there between Ana and Christian, I came away thinking it was missing something, There has been talk on social  media about it promoting domestic violence and thats crap, I know from experience and although she doesnt sign the contract in the first film , she does and it is primarily a LOVE story, so for that I loved the soundtrak and the cast was excellent, I hope for more of Marcia Gay Harden, she is favourite of mine, and Dakota Johnson is very intensive and completely naked, Bravo Lady!!

On the same track with romantic films, this week I have also rewatched some of my 90's films , like While you were sleeping ( not sure if I like sandra Bullock more than Julia Roberts, Hope Floats( cry everytime) and Sleepless in Seattle( think there is a theme)

Plus a film I havent seen before Divine secrets of the YA-YA sisterhood( Sandra again) - Bit obsessed.

Although might want to see some comedies to cheer me up a bit as too romantic and tearjerkers came get a girl down.

Half Term Treats

As some of my readers know I am a brownie leader and this week, we took the girls to the media museum in Bradford, to watch Shaun the Sheep film, now I wasn't sure i would like a kids film about a sheep that sort of grunts and a farmer that doesn't speak, but it was really  good and the staff were on hand with stop motion animation workshops and clay making and storyboards to show how the film is made and the characters, it was a brilliant day for us leaders too!!! This week has been all about kids and films choices, so I re-watched Ponahontas and Aladdin, and then more me films, last night I rewatched Mystic Pizza -1988 i love early Julia Roberts, I think she is my favourite actress.

Not sure what to watch the rest of the week , and then next week its My birthday !!!

I know its a short post this week dolly fans

Musicals Week

Hello Dolly fans, this week I have been watching some of my musical selection of DVD's! Let's start with mamma Mia, I love this film, yes even the part when pierce Bronson sings!! It's so cheerful and happy film and has such a great cast, even James enjoys it! I have also got a soft spot for Chicago and I have featured it previously but Burlesque is a film that I could watch every couple of month , with that is Rock of Ages, Tom Cruise is a special person and I LOVE Julianne Hough!!! Also we have watched Jersey boys which is a film about music and a band and not technically a musical, however it is brilliant , Chicago is really good with the jazz hands and Richard Gere! So I think this next week I may watch Richard Gere films and maybe some Julia Roberts so Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Officer and a gentleman and some other ones, if you have any suggestions, just drop me a mail or a message on the blog

Happy New Year

Happy New Year dolly fans

This year will be about the blog and making memories, so with that in mind, I'm starting it with some great films , this week I will be watching some of my Christmas presents and also going to the cinema , yes I go out of the house(sometimes) , I have watched The Great and Powerful Oz, as it is fantasy week, I like James Franco and Mila Kunis, in this , it is bold and colourful and funny , and old school credits and great music by Danny Elfman but somehow lacking in something, it could have been more story or more action, anyway lacking in something,

Next up was The Golden Compass - stay with me as lots of people didn't like this film and It's not as good as the books, my Best Friend introduced me to Philip pullman   books and I have read all 3 , the film is good and takes you on a journey with great characters and some of the casting totally fit with the books like lee Scorsby and Hester the hare, but it was Nicole Kidman for me, I didn't like her Mrs Coulter, nah not right! And it ended when it just seems to get started, maybe I will re-read the books instead.

Also in the new YEar , I have bought one of my favourite films that I saw at the cinema -War Horse , I'm staying myself for a quiet night with no interruptions for this awesome film, and I also bought Les Miserables , love Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, singing no less!!!!!

If you have any sugguestions for films for me to watch , just drop me a comment

Happy 2015 and I will get James to buy me a hoverboard !
